‘BE THE MOUNTAIN’ – PRESENTED IN COLLABORATION WITH BEMAC

Global Fusion – East Asia & Tibet

Be transported across East Asia & Tibet through an enchanting evening celebrating culture, music, dance, food and song. Be the Mountain, the second in our Global Fusion series, will take you on a magical journey through performance and cuisine inspired by ancient worlds.

Starring BEMAC Producer and renowned musician Tenzin Choegyal, this special performance also features Japanese koto master Takako Nishibori performing as duo Gen 絃 with guitarist Phill Wilson. Japanese Taiko drummer Kaya Tominaga performs with UQ Taiko drumming ensemble. Hong Kong violinist Chi Lui Flora Wong, Taiwanese-Australian musician and composer Matt Hsu also perform with traditional Chinese dancers from the Queensland Dance Centre.

The evening will also feature a new work choreographed by Queensland Ballet Creative Associate and Global Fusion Curator, Rani Luther for former Queensland Ballet dancer Sarah Thomson.

This spiritual, deeply moving and immersive performance will touch the heart and soul of audiences.
