Celebrate Queensland Seniors Month with Queensland Ballet

Mind Body Ballet

Mind Body Ballet is Queensland Ballet’s flagship wellbeing event, established in 2016 with the intent to empower, inspire and educate. To celebrate Queensland Seniors Month in October, our Mind Body Ballet program has been designed to share professionals’ knowledge and expertise in healthy ageing to promote the overall wellbeing of seniors in our community. This event will deliver a wide variety of presentations, workshops and classes that celebrate building social connections and encourage ongoing self-development in our golden years.

Recommended for ages 45+ but all ages welcome.

2023 Program

Session 1: The Mindful Garden

Dr Theresa Scott, with assistance from Susanne Rose (PhD student), will take us on a journey of appreciation of the rehabilitative and vitalising effects of gardens and their natural elements which dates back centuries.

Session 2: Let’s get physical: Strength & Balance Workshop

In this practical workshop with Queensland Ballet’s Head of Performance Health, Michelle White, you will discuss the key changes that occur in our bodies as we age.

Session 3: The Benefits of Creativity for a Healthy Mind in Later Life

Join Dr Nancy Pachana in this interactive session as we brainstorm, then breakdown, the barriers and the facilitators of creativity in later life. No topic or question is off limits!

Session 4: Healthy Hearts, Healthy Brains: Exercise Tips as We Age

In this session led by Dr Jenna Taylor, we will outline how ageing can affect our blood vessels and in turn our heart and brain health. We will then explore how exercise can help to combat these effects of ageing..
