Screendance Masterclass

Join award-winning filmmaker Ryan Renshaw from Kiosk Films as he takes a deep dive into the process of dance filmmaking. In his masterclass he will cover conceiving screendance, the collaborative relationship of choreographer and director, planning coverage for choreography, working with crews, the importance of location in screendance, the strengths and weaknesses of film compared to live
performance, the use of sound, duration considerations, essential understandings of filmmaking, use of narrative within screendance, choreographer as screen director, rethinking dance for screen from the dancer’s perspective and understanding the power of post-production. This is a must for budding dance filmmakers and existing filmmakers who want to expand their knowledge.

With guest speaker Claire Marshall.

The masterclass will conclude with an open Q&A.
