In the heart of West End, the Thomas Dixon Centre is a cultural, arts, and dance hub for Brisbane.

Public open hours are as follows:

Mon to Fri – 8am to 8pm
Sat – 8am to 2pm
Sun – 8am to 1pm

The building may be open later during performance times. Please check our WHAT’S ON page for details.

Like many inner-city events venues, there will be limited onsite and on-street parking, with public transport the recommended option.

As we acknowledge there will be large numbers of visitors at times, the Thomas Dixon Centre team encourages visitors to explore their travel options in advance.

Public transport

The Blue CityGlider route travels from West End to South Brisbane via Montague Road, stopping right outside the Thomas Dixon Centre (Raven Street stop). Please note this route travels:

  • Every five minutes during peak times and 10-15 minutes off peak
  • 18 Hours a day from Sunday to Thursday and 24 hours a day on Friday and Saturday
Free city bus

The free City Loop bus services provide high frequency public transport access within the Brisbane Central Business District (CBD). The South Brisbane free bus loop (route 86) stops on Montague Road at Davies Park (stop 8), a 15 minute walk from the Thomas Dixon Centre.

The South Brisbane Train Station is the closest station, located adjacent to the Cultural Centre which is serviced by the bus routes listed above.

The CityCat stops at the West End Ferry Terminal, located at the end of Hoogley Street.

Built with health and wellbeing in mind, the Thomas Dixon Centre encourages to choose active transport. Free bicycle storage facilities, including bike racks, are located in our car park on level B1, entrance from Raven Street.

There is a designated drop off zone at the front of the main entrance on Drake Street for taxis, rideshare, and visitors requiring ground level access.

The Thomas Dixon Centre has two levels of onsite parking, accessible via Raven Street.

Parking must be booked via the Parkable App. Please note you will be charged from the session start time upon booking.

Just like street parking there are no designated bays. You are welcome to park in any available spot, except for the Queensland Ballet ‘reserved’ and loading bays.

There are two PWD bays located on B1, immediately to your right as you enter the carpark. Vehicles parked in these bays must clearly display the appropriate Australian or Red Disability Parking Permit.

$3 per hour, capped at $15 for an all-day parking session.

How to book
  • Download the Parkable App
  • Set up your profile, including linked payment card
  • Locate ‘Thomas Dixon Centre’
  • Check if there are bays available prior to, or on arrival
  • Start your parking session – you will be charged $3/hr, with a maximum of $15 for all-day parking
  • Don’t forget to end your session prior to departing, or you will be charged the maximum rate.

If you are attending a performance at the Thomas Dixon Centre, please download the Parkable App prior to arrival to avoid congestion at the boom gate and resulting overflow into Raven Street and Montague Road.

vehicle Height

Please note our parking facility only accomodates vehicles up to 2.2m in height. Height bars will soon be installed.

Parking etiquette

Please be mindful that the Thomas Dixon Centre is in a residential area. We respect our neighbours, so please check the signage if you are looking for a street park, do not park across driveways, and note the changes to parking along Montague Road, where a new bus stop has been installed.

The Montague Markets precinct offers two hours of free undercover parking until car park closing time at 10.30pm. The Montague Markets car park will then reopen at 6.30am the next day. This public car park is directly across the road from the Thomas Dixon Centre (entrance via Ferry Road).

If you, or anyone in your party, have requirements that need extra consideration, please let us know so we can make your visit smooth and enjoyable.

The Thomas Dixon Centre has two accessible parking bays located in the carpark at Basement 1 level. Entry to the car park is via Raven Street, after which access to the foyer is via a lift located very close to the bays. There is also a designated drop off zone at the front of the building on Drake Street.
