Queensland Ballet are thrilled to extend the Ballet Boys Project even further in 2025 by offering a unique and fully subsidised Holiday Program for male dancers aged 7 to 15 years.

The Ballet Boys Project’s mission is to encourage and nurture male participation in the artform and Queensland Ballet are proud to be building a community for boys to connect and dance with others who share their passion.

The upcoming Ballet Boys Project Holiday Program is an invaluable opportunity for boys to develop their skills in a welcoming and supportive environment across a two-day event which will include classes in ballet, character, contemporary, and repertoire. As well as receiving focussed tuition in male specific technique and artistry, the boys will gain inspiring insight into the professional world of dance while observing Queensland Ballet Company Class and Rehearsals.

Parents and carers will be invited to view their student in classes on the second day of the program, join a tour of the Thomas Dixon Centre, home of Queensland Ballet, and participate in an informal Q&A session with a panel of male dance professionals.

Led by Queensland Ballet and Queensland Ballet Academy’s passionate and expert faculty, this initiative is playing a vital role in shaping the future of ballet by fostering the next generation of male dancers.

Eligibility

Male students 7-15 years of age with previous ballet (or dance) experience. 

Minimum syllabus level required:

7 – 9 years: RAD Grade 2 or equivalent
10 – 12 years: RAD Grade 5 or equivalent
13 – 15 years: RAD Intermediate to Advanced or equivalent

Wednesday, April 16, 20258am – 3.15pm
Thursday, April 17, 20258am – 3.15pm

Important information

Suitable for boys aged 7 – 15 years

Fitted T-shirt and tights, or unitard, with socks and ballet flats. Participants are not expected to purchase new items

Classes will be scheduled between 8:00am – 3:15pm AEST, a detailed schedule will be provided by email the week prior to the event
