Each concert in Collectivo’s 2026 Season showcases a dynamic and diverse lineup of virtuoso musicians from across Australia, New Zealand, and beyond – all just metres from your seat. Joining Collectivo’s Artistic Director and renowned oboist Tania Frazer in 2026 are an extraordinary roster of guest artists, including:

Concert 1 “Remnants of Time”

Remnants of Time opens the season with a striking blend of old-world elegance and modern virtuosity, brought to life by an ensemble as distinctive as the repertoire itself. Featuring an unexpected and exhilarating mix of violin, saxophone, accordion, oboe, and double bass, this program reimagines classical tradition through bold new textures.
The performance showcases the exceptional artistry of violinist Emily Sun, the thrilling debut of saxophonist Jonathan Radford, and the dazzling virtuosity of accordionist Grayson Masefield. Together, they promise an unforgettable evening of musical brilliance, where the echoes of the past are transformed through the voices of today. Works by Vitali, Albinoni, Kreisler, and Sinding are set alongside Piazzolla’s vibrant Spring and Fazıl Say’s jazz-infused Variations on a Theme by Paganini, blurring the lines between eras and styles.

Virtuosity meets adventure in Unmarked Trails, a program that blurs the lines between tradition and innovation. Richard Tognetti, widely regarded as Australia’s most renowned and influential musician, leads this compelling journey through works by composers such as Bach and Paganini, as well as Richard’s own compositions.
The concert explores music of technical brilliance and expressive freedom, moving effortlessly between eras, styles, and temperaments.
Joining Tania and Richard on stage is an extraordinary lineup: Satu Vänskä, whose recent performance with Collectivo in 2025 captivated audiences with her breathtaking virtuosity, and Stefan Cassomenos, one of Australia’s most exciting and expressive pianists. Together, this formidable ensemble delivers chamber music at its most daring — exploratory, bold, and thrillingly off the beaten path.

Concert 3 “Towards The Distant Light”

An evocative journey through shadow and radiance, Toward the Distant Light traces a path from introspective depth and soaring lyricism to rhythmically vibrant, jazz-tinged brilliance and electrifying momentum. Anchored by Schubert’s monumental Piano Trio No. 2, with its haunting Andante, the program also features Bruch’s richly expressive Four Pieces, Gareth Farr’s exhilarating Shadow of the Hawk, and Svante Henryson’s jazzy Off Pist.
We are especially thrilled to welcome New Zealand cello soloist Matthias Balzat, making his Queensland debut. Hailed as one of the finest cellists in the southern hemisphere, Matthias joins internationally acclaimed pianist Konstantin Shamray, violin virtuoso Kristian Winther, and Tania for this striking and emotionally resonant program. Expect a performance that moves effortlessly between introspection and brilliance, led by some of the most exciting voices in classical music today.

A celebration of storytelling through music, Legends weaves together folk traditions, operatic drama, and lyrical masterpieces from across the globe. Featuring music by Bartók, Fischer, Casals, Vaughan Williams, Bloch, Svante Henryson, Donizetti, and more, this richly expressive program explores deep cultural roots, human connection, and the enduring power of song.
We are thrilled to welcome New Zealand’s Joel Amosa, one of the most exciting bass-baritones in the Southern Hemisphere, alongside a stellar ensemble of guest artists: Anna De Silva Chen (violin), Robert Ashworth (viola), and Hyung Suk Bae (cello). With soaring string lines, heartfelt vocal expression, and dynamic storytelling at its core, Legends promises an unforgettable musical journey filled with colour, spirit, and soul.
Works by Beethoven, Rossini, Debussy, Ravel, and Sibelius bring stories to life through sound, from Beethoven’s dramatic ‘Pathétique’ Sonata to Ravel’s fiery violin showpiece, Tzigane.
