Queensland Ballet Primary Teachers’ Professional Development Session
Enhance your teaching through storytelling, dance & culture.

About
This professional development session introduces teachers to the Kombumerri Dreaming Teachers Resource Kit, a tool co-designed by First Nations Australians to support the respectful integration of cultural perspectives into the classroom.
Grounded in the storytelling, movement, and traditions of the Kombumerri people, this workshop will empower teachers with accessible, engaging strategies to spark creativity and deepen students’ connections to place, community and identity.
Led by the Queensland Ballet Education team and Dr. Beth Tailby, a Kamilaroi woman and Languages teacher, teachers will participate in warm-ups, ACARA V9-aligned storytelling and dance-making activities, using the free resource kit to build confidence and cultural awareness in their teaching practice. General Primary teachers will be guided through scaffolded movement, making and responding activities and Primary Specialist teachers will find inspiration and extension opportunities throughout the carefully curated learning experiences.
We gratefully acknowledge Kombumerri Traditional Custodian Uncle Max Dillon for sharing his family’s Dreaming story and teaching us aspects of his Kombumerri language and culture.
