Queensland Ballet engaged Brisbane-based independent curators Danielle Renshaw and Alison Kubler to procure works for the Thomas Dixon Centre that were truly unique, with a curatorial vision to build on the strong connection that Queenslanders have to ‘their’ ballet.
Working with specially commissioned artists Judy Watson, Jamie North and teamLab to realise bespoke artworks for Queensland Ballet, including specially commissioned built-in as well as changing ephemeral artworks, Renshaw and Kubler have looked to offer an immersive art experience for visitors.
Brisbane artist Judy Watson is the talent behind the carpets in the Thomas Dixon Centre, boasting iconic Queensland elements from nature, chosen for its beauty and importance to Aboriginal culture and this place.
‘Ensemble’, the trilogy of tall, dynamic columns gracing the forecourt of the Thomas Dixon Centre is the work of Newcastle-born artist, Jamie North.
